The presentation will primarily focus on working with victims/survivors of domestic violence. This presentation will provide the participant with definitions related to domestic violence (DV), including what is domestic violence, what is a victim/survivor, an abuser, and the different types of abuse.

The participant will explore and increase their knowledge of clinical, ethical and legal considerations related to domestic violence.

There will be a review of the Practitioner’s Guide to Ethical Decision-Making model by H. Forester-Miller and T. Davis.

The participant will enhance their understanding of documentation when working with domestic violence issues, including assessment considerations, what to document, safety planning, mandated reporting, and reflections regarding criminal and civil proceedings.

Finally, the participant will be able to learn about and identify how to make appropriate referrals that will support and help with recovery for their clients.
